About Kuwait National Museum

The Kuwait National Museum is the country's main museum complex, covering Kuwait's history from its early Bedouin and seafaring traditions through to the modern state. Exhibits trace the development of pearl diving, dhow building and regional trade that shaped Kuwait's economy long before the discovery of oil.

The complex also includes a well-known planetarium, one of the largest in the Middle East at the time it opened, offering shows on astronomy and space alongside the historical galleries. Having suffered damage during the 1990-91 Gulf War, the museum has since been restored and expanded, making it an important stop for understanding both Kuwait's heritage and its more recent history.
