About Majorelle Garden

The Majorelle Garden was created in the 1920s and 1930s by French painter Jacques Majorelle, who filled the twelve-acre botanical garden with exotic plants collected from around the world and a striking villa painted in a vivid, custom shade of cobalt blue that has since become known as 'Majorelle Blue'. After decades of decline following Majorelle's death, the garden was purchased and lovingly restored in 1980 by famed fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge.

Today, the garden remains a tranquil oasis of bamboo groves, cacti, palm trees and bougainvillea, all set against the dramatic contrast of Majorelle Blue structures and terracotta pathways. The grounds also house the Berber Museum, showcasing traditional Amazigh culture and artefacts, and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum nearby celebrates the designer's life and work, including his deep connection to Marrakech.
