About the Cave of Hira

The Cave of Hira, known as Ghar Hira, sits near the top of Jabal al-Noor, the Mountain of Light, a few kilometres from the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. It was here, during the month of Ramadan, that the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم received the first revelation of the Quran through Jibreel عليه السلام, and the opening verses of Surah Al-Alaq were revealed. In one visit you can climb the mountain, see the cave and reflect on the moment that changed the course of history.

About the Climb

For Pakistani travellers, the Cave of Hira is one of the best-known Ziyarat sites in Makkah, often visited by families and groups during Umrah. It is not a ritual of Umrah or Hajj, but a historical site that many pilgrims want to see. It is easy to reach by taxi or private transfer from Makkah, and Urdu-speaking staff and fellow pilgrims make the visit more comfortable.

The most popular route is the classic combination of Umrah, prayers at the Masjid al-Haram and Makkah Ziyarat, including Jabal al-Noor and the Cave of Hira, Jabal Thawr, and Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina. If you have more time, you can add Madinah, Masjid Aisha or extra days of worship and reflection.
