About Mutrah Corniche

The Mutrah Corniche is a long, curving waterfront promenade in one of Muscat's oldest districts, following the natural harbour that has served as a trading port for centuries. Traditional Omani-style buildings line the seafront, their facades lit up in the evening, while dhows and fishing boats still bob in the harbour below rugged hills topped by old watchtowers and forts.

At one end of the corniche sits the historic Mutrah Souq, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab world, its narrow covered lanes filled with shops selling frankincense, textiles, silver jewellery and spices. The combination of sea views, traditional architecture and an authentic working market makes the corniche one of the most atmospheric places to spend an evening in Muscat.
