About Masjid Quba

Masjid Quba in Madinah is the first mosque in Islam. It was founded by the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم when he arrived in the Quba area during his migration to Madinah, before he entered the city itself. It sits about 5 km south of Masjid an-Nabawi, a short drive of roughly 10 to 15 minutes, and its white domes and minarets make it one of the most loved stops in Madinah.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to visit Quba regularly, and it is mentioned in the Quran as a mosque founded on taqwa from its first day. Many pilgrims make a point of offering two rakahs of prayer here. For questions about the virtues and rulings of visiting, we recommend consulting a trusted scholar.

About the Visit

For Pakistani travellers, Masjid Quba is a natural part of any Madinah trip and is easy to reach from hotels near Masjid an-Nabawi. The surrounding area has shops, dates stalls and restaurants, and Urdu-speaking staff are easy to find. Most visitors go by private transfer, taxi or a guided Ziyarat tour, and the visit usually takes one to two hours.

The most popular plan is to combine Quba with the rest of Madinah Ziyarat: Masjid al-Qiblatayn, Mount Uhud, Jannat al-Baqi and the dates markets of Madinah, alongside prayers at Masjid an-Nabawi. If you are also travelling to Makkah, we can build a full Umrah itinerary around it.
