Corniche Beach runs along the northwest shore of Abu Dhabi island, a long strip of pale sand beside an 8 km seafront promenade with separate walking and cycling lanes. Behind the beach, towers rise over palm-lined paths, while the Arabian Gulf stays calm and shallow near the shore.
The Corniche is the everyday heart of Abu Dhabi's waterfront. Residents jog, cycle and picnic here from early morning, and families fill the beach on cooler evenings. The public beach is free, with paid family sections and a night beach for those who want extra facilities and later hours. The beach is long and gently sloping, with lifeguards on duty during swimming hours. Along the promenade are cafes, playgrounds, gardens and bicycle rental.
Entry to the public beach is free, with the paid family beach around AED 10 for adults and AED 5 for children, adding loungers, showers and play areas. A night beach extends swimming hours on some evenings.
The Corniche suits families, couples, groups, joggers, cyclists and photographers, and pairs naturally with a half-day or full-day visit to Emirates Palace and Qasr Al Watan nearby.
Fly from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or another major city to Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, or fly to Dubai and drive about 1.5 hours. Check current UAE visa rules for your passport before booking.
Take a taxi or ride-hailing car into central Abu Dhabi, which makes a convenient base. The drive takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
The Corniche is central, so most hotels are 5 to 10 minutes away by taxi. Paid parking may apply near the beach.
Choose your beach section, then swim, walk, cycle or relax with the skyline view.

Travel smart
A few useful things to know before you go there.
Swim only when lifeguards are on duty, and follow the flags and signs. Supervise children near the water.
Check the section fees and rules first. Entry and hours differ between public, family and night beach areas.
Bring a towel and a change of clothes. Showers and changing rooms are usually in the paid sections.
The sun is strong, so carry a hat and sunscreen.
You may need both for entry gates, bike rental and snacks.
Morning light is best for photos, and the beach is calmer.
Take rubbish with you, avoid plastic and follow beach rules.
Wear modest swimwear, cover up away from the sand and ask before photographing people.
Strong winds or rough water can close swimming areas.
