Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental sits at the western end of the Corniche, a sweeping palace of sand-coloured stone, golden domes and long garden avenues beside the Arabian Gulf, opened in 2005 and rebranded as Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in 2023. By day it glows warm gold, and at night the whole front is lit up.
Built by the Abu Dhabi government at a reported cost of about US$3 billion, it was designed to host royalty, heads of state and major summits, and is now managed by Mandarin Oriental. The main building stretches for over a kilometre from wing to wing, set in about 85 hectares of gardens with 394 rooms and suites across 114 domes. Inside, tall atriums, marble floors and gold-detailed domes lead to restaurants, cafes, two spas and many event spaces, while the 1.3 km private beach uses imported white sand with two pools and an aqua fun park.
Day pass and tour fees apply for non-guests, and the hotel suits couples, families, luxury travellers, photographers and groups. It is officially a five-star luxury hotel — the "seven-star" label often used for it is only a popular nickname.
Non-guest access is usually through a reservation, tour or day pass, so plan and confirm pricing before you arrive. Parts of the hotel can close for private events or official visits.
Fly from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or another major city to Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, or fly to Dubai and drive about 1.5 hours. Check current UAE visa rules for your passport before booking.
The hotel is about 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi airport by taxi or ride-hailing car. From Dubai airport allow around 100 minutes.
From downtown or the Corniche, drive about 10 to 15 minutes to West Corniche Road. Qasr Al Watan is roughly 2 km away.
Arrive for your reservation, take a tour or day pass, and enjoy the lobby, cafes and beach.
