The Museum of the Future, opened in February 2022, is one of the most striking buildings in Dubai. Its shape is a ring with an empty centre, and its silver walls are cut with lines of Arabic calligraphy that also let in light, giving it a look straight out of a science fiction film.
Inside, visitors travel through exhibits about space, health, climate and technology, usually going up by lift and working their way down through zones on space travel, ecosystems, health and wellbeing, and hands-on experiences. The displays are built to be seen, touched and experienced, not just read — a place that makes people think about what the next fifty years could look like and what role they might play.
Timed tickets are usually required and can sell out, so booking ahead is recommended. The museum suits families, couples, groups, technology lovers and photographers for a visit of 2 to 3 hours.
The calligraphy on the outside is made up of quotes about the future, and the lighting at night turns the whole building into a glowing sculpture — well worth an evening photo stop even without a ticket.
Fly from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or other cities to Dubai International Airport. Direct flights take about three hours, and many airlines operate daily.
Take a taxi, the Dubai Metro or a hotel transfer into the city, usually 20 to 40 minutes depending on your hotel.
Take the Dubai Metro to Emirates Towers station or a taxi, then walk or ride to the museum.
Scan your ticket, follow the guided route and finish at the outer walkway for photos.
