About Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is one of the most famous man-made islands in the world. Built by reclaiming land from the sea, it is shaped like a palm tree — a central trunk, 16 fronds and a surrounding crescent — and sits just off the coast of Dubai. From the air the shape is clear, and from the ground it feels like a resort town.

The island holds hotels, villas, beach clubs, restaurants and walkways, with the Atlantis resort at the far end of the crescent. A monorail runs from the mainland along the trunk to Atlantis, and a viewing deck in a tower, The View at The Palm, gives a full view of the palm. Public beaches and boardwalks give access to the water, while The Pointe, a waterfront promenade near Atlantis, offers dining and fountain shows with views of the skyline.

Local story

Good to Know

The island is free to enter, with attractions, beaches and clubs charging separately. It suits families, couples, groups, honeymooners and beach lovers, for half a day, a full day, or a resort stay.

The island is large and not very walkable, so a taxi or ride-hailing app is the easiest way to move between beaches, Atlantis and The Pointe, and taxis can be harder to find late at night or on weekends.
