About the Bridge

The Hussaini Suspension Bridge is one of the best-known images of Hunza. Thin wooden planks hang from heavy cables over the fast, grey-green Hunza River, with gaps between the boards and a sway that moves with every step. Behind it, the pointed ridge of the Passu Cones fills the sky.

Locals have used rope bridges like this for generations to cross the river between villages and pastures. Today the bridge draws visitors from all over the world, and it is often called one of the most dramatic footbridges in Pakistan. Whether you cross it or simply photograph it, it is an unforgettable stop.

Local story

About the Bridge

The bridge is a simple footbridge made of steel cables and wooden planks, spanning the river for roughly 150 to 200 m. The planks are spaced apart, some are worn or missing, and the whole structure moves in the wind and with each person. It was originally built for local use. Because of its condition, access and rules may change from season to season, so check on site before walking out. A viewpoint and a few small cafes sit near the entrance.
