About Kalam Valley

Kalam Valley sits at the head of the Swat River, where the Ushu and Utror streams join and the landscape turns into a mix of deodar forest, wide meadows and snow-capped ridges. It is a favorite summer escape for families and travelers who want cool weather, mountain views and easy access from Islamabad.

The town of Kalam is the main base. Hotels line the riverbank, bazaars sell local handicrafts and dry fruit, and the sound of the river follows you everywhere. From here, jeep tracks lead into the upper valleys, including Ushu Forest, Mahodand Lake and Spin Khwar, each offering a different kind of scenery.
