About Kumrat Waterfall

Set among tall deodar trees in the heart of Kumrat Valley, Kumrat Waterfall, also known as Jandrai Waterfall, is a refreshing cascade fed by mountain snowmelt. The water drops down a rocky face into a clear stream, filling the forest with mist, cool air and the constant sound of rushing water.

Unlike the long treks to Jahaz Banda or Katora Lake, the waterfall needs little effort. A short drive from the main camping area and an easy walk through the forest bring you to the base, which makes it ideal for families, older travelers and anyone with limited time.

Travel Tips for Kumrat Waterfall

A few useful things to know before you go there.

  1. Wear shoes with good grip

Rocks near the water are wet and slippery.

  2. Stay behind safe areas

Do not climb on wet rocks or enter fast-flowing water. Water levels rise after heavy rain or fast snowmelt, so stay well back from the edge.

  3. Dress in layers

It is much cooler near the waterfall, even in summer. Conditions can change quickly, with sun, fog and rain possible on the same day.

  4. Carry a rain jacket and a waterproof bag

Mist and spray will get you wet and can damage electronics.

  5. Carry water and snacks

There are few shops near the waterfall.

  6. Bring cash

ATMs are limited in Dir and not available in Kumrat.

  7. Expect no network

Tell family your plan before you go.

  8. Check the weather and road conditions

Rain and landslides can delay travel on the valley road.

  9. Supervise children closely

Keep them away from the edge and the stream.

  10. Leave no trace

Carry your rubbish back with you and keep the forest clean.
