About Malam Jabba

Malam Jabba is a hill resort in the Hindu Kush range, covered in pine forest and open slopes. The resort is best known for its chairlift, which carries visitors up the mountain for wide views over the Swat region, and for its ski slope, which is one of the few places in Pakistan where skiing is possible.

The road from Mingora climbs through villages and forest, and the air turns noticeably cooler as you gain height. At the top, you will find a small resort area with a chairlift, cafes, viewpoints and walking paths. In summer it is a green and breezy escape. In winter the slopes fill with snow and the atmosphere changes completely.

Travel Tips for Malam Jabba

A few useful things to know before you go there.

  1. Start early

Leave Mingora in the morning to avoid traffic and enjoy clearer views.

  2. Check the weather first

Fog and rain can cut visibility and delay the chairlift. Winter conditions can close roads and the chairlift at short notice.

  3. Dress in layers

It is much cooler on the hill than in Mingora, and winter is very cold.

  4. Wear shoes with good grip

Paths can be wet, muddy or icy.

  5. Carry cash

ATMs are limited on the hill and card payments may not work.

  6. Confirm the chairlift status

Operations can pause for maintenance or weather.

  7. Winter drivers should carry chains

Snow and ice can affect the road.

  8. Expect patchy network

    Coverage varies by operator.

  9. Check road and security updates

Conditions can change, so confirm before you go.

  10. Leave no trace

Carry your rubbish back with you and keep the hill clean.
